WPD ZIP Download Problems: Browser and File Checks

A download problem occurs before WPD runs. First determine whether you received the complete ZIP, an HTML error page, or no file at all; application troubleshooting comes later.

Find where the transfer failed

  1. Open the browser Downloads panel and inspect the failure message. A blocked request, interrupted connection, and security warning are different problems.
  2. Use the download page again and check that the final file is a ZIP. Turn on file extensions in File Explorer so that a file named WPD.zip.html is not mistaken for an archive.
  3. Compare the downloaded byte size with the package details. A small text file or login page is not the application.
  4. Calculate SHA-256 and compare the full value before extracting. If it differs, keep the file unexecuted and retry from a verified source.

When the page opens but the button seems inactive

The site provides a direct download link as well as its JavaScript click handler. Try the direct link on the package page if a browser extension prevents a scripted action. The page does not require a timer, subscription, browser extension, or payment to start the supplied file transfer.

Do not treat a warning as a network failure

A security product may deliberately stop a file. Record the warning and examine the provenance; do not disable protection simply to complete a download. If the ZIP transfers correctly but the program fails after extraction, move to the separate launch troubleshooting guide.

Questions and answers

Why did I receive HTML instead of a ZIP?

A server error, authentication page, or misconfigured download route may have been saved as a file. Check its type and size before opening it.

Will repeated clicking repair a corrupt archive?

No. Remove the incomplete copy after recording its details, obtain one fresh copy, and compare its checksum.
